2 Samuel 16:11-12, New International Version

“…Leave him alone; let him curse, for the Lord has told him to. It may be that the Lord will look upon my misery and restore to me his covenant blessing instead of his curse today.”

A comment that everyone has heard quite a lot in these few years is, “What is happening in this world nowadays?!” Besides this comment they talk about what they think. They discuss with one another how it can be better. Some may even respond with unpleasant emotions and take actions as a result.

Whether you are a Christian or an unbeliever, when we do try to take matters into our own hands and act according to our feeling or own self-righteousness, the result will not be pretty.

You may say, “Well, the Word made me righteous and I have the truth!” So, you speak as though you know better. You fight for your rights as you believe you are fighting for the Lord. However, what we may miss could be the Lord’s will and His way.

“For the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.” (James 1:20, ESV)

“As a servant of the Lord, you must not argue. You must be kind to everyone. You must be a good teacher, and you must be patient. You must gently teach those who don't agree with you.” (2 Timothy 2:23-24, ERV)

“You say, ‘I am allowed to do anything’—but not everything is good for you. And even though ‘I am allowed to do anything,’ I must not become a slave to anything.” (1 Corinthians 6:12, NLT)

“Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord.” (Romans 12:19, NIV)

The world may be more complicated than it was when we were young, and truth and lies, right and wrong, have been greatly confused. This should come as no surprise however as the Word of God told us thousands of years ago that one day evil would be viewed as good and good viewed as evil. There are times when people accept darkness for light and light for darkness, bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20) We must decide if we will make the same decision! Will we act like them, speak like them, and take actions like them?

My dear brothers and sisters, please know that critics may criticize, haters may hate, and sometimes you may feel the word you have said is being twisted. But never forget that the Lord is standing up for you and no one can trick Him. He knows, and He is your Defender. So, “Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him” and He also knows what’s happening to your life and the choice you made that in order to obey Him. (Matthew 6:8, NLT)

“For we will be counted as righteous when we obey all the commands the LORD our God has given us.” (Deuteronomy 6:25, NLT)

“The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” “The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” “The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” (Exodus 14:14, NIV, NLT, ESV)
